EPHESIANS 6:17…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:


In the second sample for Isaiah chapter 49, the Lord makes a connection to the 49th book of the Bible with:

  • The Lord conquering the mighty man, who held others as captives (prisoners).
  • The Lord delivering (setting free) those that had been held captive.

ISAIAH 49:24
Shall the prey (the seized) be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive (prisoner) delivered?
25 But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend (fight) with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh;

EPHESIANS 4:8

The Noah Webster 1828 dictionary says: “to lead captivity captive, in scripture, is to subdue those who have held others in slavery, or captivity”.


In the third sample, the Lord makes a connection with the Gentile receiving salvation.

ISAIAH 49:6
…I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

EPHESIANS 3:6
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.
