In the first sample for Isaiah chapter 48, the Lord makes two connections to the 48th book of the Bible with:

  • God’s Spirit leading his people the way they should go.
  • People that follow God’s leading receiving peace.

This connection is made using verses 16-22 in both Isaiah 48 and Galatians.

ISAIAH 48
16 …the Lord GOD, and his Spirit
17 …which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river…
21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the water to flow out of the rock for them…
22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

GALATIANS 5
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the spirit against the flesh…
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
21 …as I have told you in the past…
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace

This connection is also continued from Galatians chapter 5 into chapter 6.

ISAIAH 48:18
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river…

GALATIANS 6:16

And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be upon them…

In the second sample, the Lord makes a connection with only God receiving glory.

ISAIAH 48:11
…I will not give my glory unto another.

GALATIANS 6:14
But God forbid that I should glory, save (except) in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ…
