The book of II John only has 13 verses, but has several connections.

In the first sample for Isaiah chapter 63, the Lord makes a connection to the 63rd book of the Bible with both mentioning God’s mercy and love for his people, his children.

ISAIAH 63
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD… and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

II JOHN 1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth…
2 for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us…
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

In the second sample, the Lord makes the following connections:

  • everlasting and forever
  • truthful people having God as their father
  • untruthful people not having God

ISAIAH 63
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
16 Doubtless thou art our father… thou, O LORD, are our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

II JOHN
2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received commandment from the Father.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
